The sport of Petanque has been violently ignored in the visual and literary arts of the past decades. For the occasion of the European Championship, we were contacted by the House of Sports (a local division of the Olympic Committee) to create a film that would reflect the grandeur and excitement of Petanque in general and the Championship in particular.
Originally shot as a ten minute film consisting of poetic slow motion long takes, it was cut down to a(n equally appropriate) fast-paced 30-second version for television broadcast. This cut is included below.
